Antique French Louis Philippe Gilt Mirror with Beaded Border
An antique French gilt mirror in the Louis Philippe style, found at a brocante here in rural France.
It has the classic Louis Philippe shape, with rounded top corners and a deep moulded frame, and a row of beading around the glass. The gilding has mellowed to a warm bronze-gold. The old mirror plate has the soft speckling and fine crazing that come with age, and the back still has its original wooden boards. It suits a mantelpiece, a hallway, or leaning on a chest of drawers.
