• Oil on board, French standard size 12F (pencilled on the back)

• Signed lower left: M. Moret

• Era: c. mid-20th century

• Frame: chunky moulded wooden frame in old chalky grey paint, chipped and worn – left as found, as we think it's part of its charm

• Condition: good vintage condition. Small paint losses to the lower right, on the bank and in the water (see photos). The frame paint is flaking in places.

• A decorative painting by a capable hand; we have not attributed it to a known artist.

A quiet, glowing piece for above a fireplace, a dresser or a bed, especially in autumn and winter light.
