A vintage French stoneware crock, found at a brocante here in rural France.

The pot is salt glazed in a speckled toffee brown, with a pale collar at the rim and two pierced lugs threaded with a rope handle. Pots like this were used in farmhouse kitchens for preserving. It makes a good utensil jar by the stove, a planter, or a vase for tall branches.
